million yen 百万円
・three million yen 三百万円
millions of yen 何百万円もの
・hundreds of millions of yen 何億円もの

millionもmillionsも基本的には複数形動詞を使うが、金額についていう場合は単数形を使う。
・Two million (people) were affected. 200万人が感染した。
・There were millions of people there. そこには何百万人もの人がいた。
・Four million (yen) was withdrawn from the account. 400万円がその口座から引き出された。
number of＋可算名詞（～の数）
・The number of homeless people has increased dramatically. ホームレスの人数は劇的に増大した。
amount of＋非可算名詞（量、金額）
・amount of work 仕事量
・amount of a donation 寄付金額
・This server is designed to store huge amount of data. このサーバーは膨大なデータ量を蓄積するように設計されている。

・huge number of = very many
Huge number of animals have died. 膨大な数の動物が死んだ。
・a number of = some
A number of problems have arisen. 問題がいくつか出てきた。
・any number of = a lot of
I could give you any number of reasons for not going. 私が行かない理由はいくらでも挙げられる。
